West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said on Friday that West Bengal has reached a stage where “not even the dead can be in peace”.
“Protesting against the incidents of rape and killing of a teenager in Kaligang as well as a young man who was allegedly shot dead by the police, the Congress not only organized the protests but also reassured the families to help take the matter to court,” Chowdhury said at a press conference at the state’s Congress headquarters. West Bengal has reached a stage Even the dead cannot be in peace. The police did not arrest the accused and did not take any steps against them. Instead, they mentally tortured the victim’s families in the name of the investigation.”
Last month, Kaliyaganj in Uttar Dinajpur witnessed a breakdown of law and order due to the alleged rape and murder of a teenager. The conference leader continued, “The police said they had arrested the accused. The police called the family early in the morning and they forced them to wait there until the evening in the name of the investigation.”
