Lamar Jackson recently signed with the Baltimore Ravens for a five-year, $260 million contract. Before he signed, though, rumors surfaced that he made an Aaron Rodgers-esque request to the Ravens to sign some offensive weapons for him.

Jackson said he asked Eric D’Costa if the team had a spot for Odell Beckham Jr. and DeAndre Hopkins, but he said it was a question, not a request. He said he was “smitten” when the team acquired Beckham Jr.

According to reporter Jeff Zrebec, the quarterback reached out to general manager Eric D’Costa and asked whether or not Odell Beckham Jr. and Diane Hopkins could be acquired. He made sure to make it clear that it was a matter of whether or not that was possible, no request or anything like that.

The team eventually managed to sign Beckham to a one-year contract and win the lottery, making Jackson a “hype”. It’s still theoretically possible for the Ravens to land Hopkins as well.

He’s not a free agent, but he’s still available via trade and if the Arizona Cardinals can’t find a partner, there’s a real chance he’ll be released. If that happens, there could be a bidding war and the Ravens may not be able to land him, but a move is definitely not on the table at this point.

It should be noted that Rodgers refuted his wishlist report, but Jackson came out and made clear what he meant when he reached out to some of the players.

Will DeAndre Hopkins join Odell Beckham Jr.? And Lamar Jackson?

Right now, the only thing standing in the way of a DeAndre Hopkins trade (whether to the Baltimore Ravens or not) is his contract. He’s very high, which is the only reason the Cardinals are looking to move him.

This limits the Ravens, who have the highest-paid NFL player in history (Lamar Jackson) and the highest-paid fullback in NFL history (Roquan Smith). Any deal will require money to match and the Cardinals may have to eat some.

If they didn’t and released him, it would become easier financially for the Crows to sign Hopkins. However, they wouldn’t be the only team interested. The competition will not be as good, so there is still a chance of him joining Beckham and Jackson, but admittedly slim.
