Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag brought Paul Ince a bottle of wine after he was previously accused of disrespecting the former Red Devils midfielder.
Ten Hag sent Sky Sports pundits NCI and Jamie Redknapp into hysterics when he brought a bottle of wine to the former Reading manager. The Dutch coach did so with the criticism he received from Ince in mind.
Manchester United secured a 3-1 victory over Reading in the FA Cup fourth round in February. Ince was in charge of the Clarets at the time, but was upset at not sharing a post-match glass of wine. He said (via talkSPORT):
“I was disappointed that none of the United staff asked me for a glass of wine. I didn’t like it, it’s disrespectful. Whatever it is, win, lose or draw, you say go for a drink. Whether it’s wine or tea doesn’t really matter.” .
Ten Hag wore a smirk on his face as he waved the wine to Ince. He said:
“I owe him one.”
Inge thanked him, but Ten Hag insisted:
“There’s not always time for a post-match drink.”
Then the former Manchester United midfielder replied:
“We’ll share it after you win the cup final, okay?”
He sees everything.
The Red Devils have the chance to add a second silverware to an impressive debut season under Ten Hag. They will face Manchester City in Manchester City’s first derby in the FA Cup Final on June 3.
However, their focus prior to that final was to finish in the top four of the Premier League. They’re in for a game against Brighton & Hove Albion in the AMEX tonight (4 May). Ten Hag’s men are fourth in the league, four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool.
Manchester United will be wary of the Brighton team seeking revenge in the Amex. They were beaten by the Red Devils 7-6 on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final on 23 April.
Tin Hag knows his team is facing a huge battle with seagulls. He has spoken about his troops’ preparations for the game, saying (via UtdPlug):
It will be a huge fight. We have to prepare for that so we’re ready, fully focused, full of energy and going into battle.”
Brighton won 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in August. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have enjoyed a great season and will be a tough host.
