Meteorological department officials said on Friday that the deep depressions that formed in the Bay of Bengal are likely to take the form of a cyclone.
Officials said the cyclonic disturbance could bring winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour, which are likely to prevail over the southeastern Bay of Bengal on May 7.
“A cyclone cycle is likely to develop over the southeast Bay of Bengal on May 6, 2023. Under its influence on May 7, a low pressure area will be formed at the same location which is southeast of the Bay of Bengal. Kolkata City Manager Sanjib Bandhopadhyay said: May 8th, it will focus further in the depression and move approximately northeast and focus as a cyclone over the central Bay of Bengal.”
To avoid unwanted incidents, Odisha and West Bengal are preparing for an emergency. The Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are ready to tackle the cyclone.
