Brilliant batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels woefully out-of-form captain and Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma should take a break from the IPL and instead prepare seriously for the upcoming World Championship (WTC) final against Australia.

Gavaskar believes Rohit’s confidence has been damaged after a long run of poor results in the T20 league.
Speaking on Star Sports, Gavaskar said: “I would say Rohit should probably take a break for the time being, and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship final.

“He can bounce back in the last few games, but for now, he (he) has to take a break himself.”

The World Trade Center final is scheduled to take place at London’s Oval Stadium from 7-11 June.

Rohit’s barren run continued with Willow as Chennai Super Kings broke their 13-year-old jinx against Mumbai Indians with an easy six-wicket win in Chipauk on Saturday.

The Indians captain’s dreadful run in the Indian Premier League since last edition continued as he failed to trouble the top scorer for the second consecutive match, resulting in MI making an under-par 139 for eight against CSK.

It was a forgettable outing for Mumbai Indians and the biggest setback for them was the current form of their captain, who has been dismissed from the Powerplay for the eighth time in this edition of the league.
