Dhankhar is in the UK on a two-day visit to attend the coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in its capital
Addressing a reception here on Friday, Vice President Jagdip Dhankhar said India is proud of its global diaspora of 32 million and must continue to confront unsubstantiated narratives about the country as its ambassadors.
Dhankhar, who is in the UK on a two-day visit to attend the coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in its capital, focused his speech on India’s great growth strides and its success story as a “democracy functioning at an unparalleled level”.
He spoke about the country’s “Amrit Kaal” achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking India’s 75th anniversary of independence, and highlighted the government’s goal to become the third largest economy by the turn of the decade.
India’s moment of glory has come and this moment is actually reflected on the ground. “The world knows that,” Dhankhar said.

“Each one of you should be an ambassador for Bharat 24/7. India is now the center of industrial activity in the world. I therefore appeal to all of you to contribute to the growth of the nation, to elevate its reputation and to ensure that unfounded and unfounded narratives To a sound basis and unfounded do not make strides in the public sphere. .
“No one is against honest evaluation or criticism, it will always help us achieve our goals. But malicious and malicious regulation is contrary to a good conscience. We must address it.”
Dhankhar went on to speak at length about India’s achievements in various sectors, including digital transformation, healthcare, vaccines, space technology and infrastructure growth.
The Vice-President was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, in interacting with members of the community, who represent a group of Indian diaspora organizations at the reception organized by the Indian High Commission in London.
Prior to the meeting, he said he had had a “wonderful and enlightened interaction” with ethnic Indian members of the House of Lords, including Lord Meghnad Desai, Lord Suraj Paul and Lord Rami Ranger, among others present at the gathering.
This came at the end of a day full of royal engagements for the Vice President, who received him for the first time with King Charles III at a reception for Commonwealth heads of government hosted by Commonwealth Secretary-General Baroness Patricia Scotland, followed by a reception hosted by the King for world leaders and visiting dignitaries at Buckingham Palace.
On Saturday, Mr and Mrs Dhankhar will represent India at the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey and return to India shortly after the ceremony at the conclusion of the short visit.
