Malayalam movie 2018 – Everybody’s a Champion Released in theaters on Friday. The film, which minted ₹1.85 crore on its opening day, recorded a jump on the second day. According to trade analysts and industry trackers, 2018 collected ₹3.22 crore on Saturday, bringing the two-day total collection to ₹5.07 crore.

The film opened to positive reviews and word of mouth led to more screens being added in theaters in Kerala and Bengaluru.

Directed by Joud Antani Joseph, it is based on the 2018 Kerala floods. The catastrophe left 483 people dead and thousands of homes destroyed.

2018 stars Tovino Thomas, Indrans, Kunchaku Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth Srinivasan, Asif Ali, Lal, Narain, Tanvi Ram, Sivada, Kaliarasan, Aju Varghese, Siddique, Joy Mathew and Sudesh. Tofino recently took to his social media handles and thanked the audience for their response to the film.

Anandu of Indianexpress.com gave the film four stars. A portion of the review stated, “2018 – Everybody’s a Hero is, as the title suggests, a tribute to the hundreds of thousands of people who came together in the face of torrential rain and helped each other through a time of great darkness, rather than being a documentation of the actual events that unfolded in the weeks that followed.” It preceded mid-August of that year.
