“I have paid for 50 air indicators and if there are any other problems then I will give my support. If anyone has a problem staying outside their home country then he or she should contact us and we will get you back,” says Pradyut Bikram Manikya Deep Barman

Responding to the concerns of the students pursuing their studies in Manipur and the recent violence, the King of Tripura and Tiphra Mutha Pradyut Pradyut Bikram Manikya Deb Barman on Saturday arranged 50 flight tickets to repatriate the Tiprasas (indigenous tribes).

In times of crisis, one should not think about politics. In troubled times, the people of Tiprasa stood by me and supported me. It is my first and last duty to help the students of Tiprasa who are stuck in Manipur.”

“I paid for 50 air indicators and if there are any other problems, I will offer my support. If anyone has a problem staying out of their home country, he or she should contact us, and we will send you back. It’s not from the government, I do it entirely personally.

In a meticulously planned and executed multi-agency rescue operation led by a brigadier general from Assam Rifles IGAR HQ in Kohima that involved movement over two days, the safe evacuation that began Saturday was completed today. A total of 676 Naga civilians were safely returned to Tripura.

“I would like to appeal to my brothers Meitei, Kuki and Naga to refrain from infighting and question the elected minister and MLA. Burning churches, temples and houses will not solve the political problem. I booked these tickets on Indigo as I do not have the ability to book a private flight. Deep Barman said:” An additional 30 students should come, and if necessary, I will book their tickets for them as well.”

The army’s efforts are progressing

The efforts of Columns 120-125 of the Army and Assam Rifles over the past 96 hours have helped save civilians across communities, reduce violence and restore normal life. With no major violence, the curfew was relaxed from 7 to 10 am in Churachandpur followed by a flag procession by the security forces immediately after.

The past 24 hours also saw the Army significantly ramp up its surveillance efforts through aerial surveillance, drone traffic and the redeployment of Army helicopters into the Imphal Valley.

A total of 23,000 civilians have so far been rescued and taken to private military bases/garrisons

Students from the evacuated kettle

The Meghalaya government has also evacuated students from the state. A total of 66 students from Meghalaya studying at the Central Agricultural University, Imphal, arrived at the Guwahati Airport on Friday night in the first phase of the evacuation.

Meghalaya Director General of Police Dr L L Bishnoi said the state police are in regular contact with senior police officers in Manipur. Eight more students studying at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal were evacuated on Saturday, while another 36 students were evacuated on Sunday.

There are no exact figures but nearly 200 people, mostly students, from Meghalaya are stranded in Manipur.
