Cristiano Ronaldo shared an interesting story about his son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is one of the richest athletes in the world. He suffered from poverty in his younger days, but his hard work and success over several years now put him in a comfortable position.
However, Ronaldo still retains the value of hard work and wants to pass on the same message to his son, who naturally ignores the financially difficult days his father spent in his younger years.
Speaking of how his son asked for a mobile phone, Ronaldo shared an interesting story in an interview in 2022:
“I think we should take advantage of (technology) but we shouldn’t be obsessed with it. For example, I can give you a little impression. My oldest child will be 12 soon and he asks me every time, ‘Daddy, can I get a phone, can I? I can get a phone, can I get a phone,’ I tell him, ‘Cristiano, you’ve got time.'”
Follow Ronaldo:
“I ask him to wait for the future. One day, Junior asked me for an iPhone to call me but I told him no. If he wanted to call me he should via his grandmother. It’s not easy to get anything he wants.”
Despite having enough money to buy most things in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo believes that education is the best gift he can give to his children.
“Education is the best thing I can give him.”
Ronaldo continued to stress the fact that hard work will win over talent and resources.
“And that is what I try to instill in Cristiano Jr. and whenever I visit schools. What I am trying to reach today is that having talent is not enough. What I try to pass on to children is hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything you want.”
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to his former club Manchester United in the summer of 2021. He personally enjoyed a good first season, scoring 24 goals in 37 games for the club across competitions.
However, following the arrival of Erik ten Hag this summer, Ronaldo’s playing time has been cut back. Marred by controversies and other rumors of him becoming a dressing room problem and an interview in which he openly criticized the club, Ronaldo terminated his contract with Manchester United by mutual agreement.
He joined the Saudi Al-Nassr team in December 2021. Ronaldo scored 12 goals and provided 16 assists in 16 matches.
