American mixed martial arts star Sage Northcutt made a triumphant return to competition by picking up a quick victory at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in the US.
Kept on the sidelines for four years due to various medical issues, the ‘Super Sage’ surprised the fight fans by making short work of Pakistani opponent Ahmed Mujtaba in their feature lightweight bout at the live ONE Championship show on floor in the US.
Team Alpha Male and Evolve MMA forced Ahmed Mojtaba to take advantage of only 39 seconds in three scheduled orbits due to a heel hook.
While he was clipped early on with a short stroke by Mojtaba, Sage Northcutt had a mind to use to work in his favour. After both fighters shuffled it to the ground afterwards, the American fighter grabbed Wolverine’s leg and spun it from which the tap immediately came.
ONE Championship posted a video of the sweet ending to ‘Super Sage’ on Instagram.

The impressive win earned Sage Northcutt a $50,000 performance bonus from ONE CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong. It also silenced the skeptics who were unsure about the shape of the match in the lead-up to the game after the long break.
Prior to ONE Fight Night 10, Sage Northcutt last fought in May 2019, when he suffered a first-round knockout loss at the hands of Brazil’s Cosmo Alexandre. In the aftermath, he suffered multiple facial fractures which required surgery and a lengthy recovery period.
He attempted to return in 2021 but COVID-19 held him back again. Now healthy, the 27-year-old Northcott is looking to keep himself busy by taking on the best fighters in the division as well as trying his hand at other disciplines such as submission grappling.
The ONE Fight Night 10 replay can be watched for free via Amazon Prime in North America.
