Al Nasr coach Dinko Jelicic insisted on the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo Al-Aalami Not why Anderson Talisca is underperforming.

Talisca was the main man for Al-Nassr in the first half of the season, scoring 13 goals from the first 15 matches in the Saudi Professional League. However, he has only scored three times in his last eight matches across competitions.

The Brazilian has failed to find the net in each of his last three league matches, which Al-Nassr also failed to win. His weak brilliance led to his delay in the race for the golden boot, as Al-Ittihad player Abdul Razzaq Hamdallah (20) scored four goals.

Talisca returned to the starting line-up for Al-Nassr against Al-Khaleej on Monday (8 May) after missing the 4-0 win over Al-Raed. However, the attacker failed to make an impact Al-Aalami Draw 1-1 at home.

Talisca’s struggles led to suggestions that he was influenced by Ronaldo’s presence in the team. However, Djelic said that these claims are untrue, citing the figure of Abd al-Rahman Gharib as an example.

“Talisca did not perform what was expected of him in more than one match, but it is related to level fluctuations and other reasons,” said Jelicic (via Quora). “Playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo does not cause pressure, and Abdul Rahman Gharib’s performance is an example of that.”

Al-Nasr coach added that Talisca is under pressure due to dehydration because of his goal.

“Talisca is also in agreement with Cristiano in training, but the performance drops in matches,” Gilicic said. “There might be pressure on him because he doesn’t score goals.”

On the other hand, Al-Nasr tied against Al-Khaleej team, which was relegated to the second division, making it five points behind Al-Ittihad in the title race. They’ve won just one of their last four league matches.
