The death of a woman after an alleged rape in a government hospital sparked a political row on Tuesday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) questioned the alleged silence of AAP and DCW chief Swati Maliwal over the incident, the latter asking the center to reform police work rather than “politicize the matter”.

The BJP called on Lt. Governor Veena Kumar Saxena to intervene in the matter.

“Why have Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal…and AAP leaders not yet opened their mouths or met with the woman’s family?” Said the leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramveer Singh Biduri.

BJP Delhi Vice President Parka Singh accused Maliwal of working “just for media shots”.

The DCW boss said, “I took up a gruesome rape of a woman 5 days ago. Our consultant did an FIR, a DCW member met the girl and I called the police… Suddenly a party started pointing fingers at me. Shame on you, stop playing politics on the dead.” If you want to do
