Justice Surya Kant of the Supreme Court released the first issue of the 70-page quarterly magazine of the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council during the 9th annual meeting of the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council on May 7.

The meeting was held with an academic session on the theme “Globalization, Indian Lawyers and Emerging Economies”.

During the event, Judge Surya Kant, while sharing his experiences, spoke extensively on the story of India’s growth and growing international economic opportunities while reminding the legal fraternity of the need to structure the current ecosystem of legal practices. Judge Kant stressed the importance of prompt justice and advised the Bar Council and associations to start training programs for young lawyers at the start of their careers.

Bar Council President Soffer Sidhu called for the patronage of future lawyers and spoke about the visit of the Bar Council lawyer delegation to the UK for five days from 17 April.

On the occasion, the Bar Council also congratulated Justice Harpreet Singh Brar, the former President of the Bar Council, on his recent promotion to an Additional Justice in the Supreme Court.

The event was attended by Chairman of Executive Committee of Bar Council of India Apurba Sharma, Co-Chairman Vaid Parkash Sharma and Member Amit Vaid.
