Jacqui Pontan had a lot of pressure on her shoulders, but she gave an exciting performance.

The Filipino American outlasted Diandra Martin at ONE Fight Night 10 last weekend to open the main card of the event, thrilling the crowd with a first-round knockout.

While she made it look easy, the 25-year-old definitely felt the pressure of making a good first impression on the audience attending her first-ever US promotional event.

After two exciting bouts to warm up the crowd, ONE announcer Dom Lau introduced the two fighters to the main card with great fanfare. Jacqui Pontan had the unenviable opportunity to compete in the first match after the preliminaries, which hit her a bit.

In an interview with Sportskeeda MMAPontan revealed:

“Honestly, I was the first to fight after the opening ceremony. Being backstage just made me nervous.”

With the win, the Boxing Works product has built a little bit of momentum for itself and is now looking for the ONE Championship gold. She has expressed interest in competing in kickboxing in the strawweight division, but is also looking forward to a rematch against Muay Thai world strawweight champion Smila Sundel.
