For millennials in Tamil Nadu, one of their favorite on-screen pairings is probably Meera Jasmin and Madhavan from Ran (2002), other than Vijay Simran and Asin-Surya – from Ran (2002), which was also the Tamil film’s first prequel. Even Mani Ratnam seemed to have loved the pairing that brought them together in Aayutha Ezhuthu (Yuva in Hindi). While Madhavan continued to stay in the act, Meera had been missing from the Tamil screen for the past nine years. Now, she is back in Tamil cinema and is collaborating with Madhavan for the film Audition, which is the directorial debut of producer Sashikant.
Meera returned to Malayalam cinema last year with the movie Makal, in which Jayaram played the lead role. The film failed to make an impact at the box office.
Meera Jasmine shared the news about her return to Tamil, writing on Instagram: “There is something so satisfying about returning to familiar places and unchanged people amidst all the transformations. So honored to join @actormaddyworldofsiddharth #Nayanthara for @sash041075studiosynot for TEST.”
Other than Meera Jasmine and Madhavan, the movie also stars Nayanthara and Siddharth. The film marks singer Shakthisree Gopalan’s debut as a music composer. Although it is clear from the motion poster and title that Test is about cricket, the plot and other details of the film are still unknown. Filming is already underway.
