Four Indians, Deepak Puria, Akash Sangoan, Nishant Dev, and Sachin Siwatch, were on Day 9 of the 2023 IBC World Boxing Championships.
Deepak Borea faced China’s Zhang Jiamo in the round of 16 in the 51kg category. Sachin Siwatch faced Kazakhstan’s Saberkhan Makhmud in the round of 16 round at 54kg.
Akash Sanghwan wrestled against Kazakhstan’s Devlet Bekbaov in their round of 16 match in the 67kg category.
Nishant Dev tested his mettle against Fakih Nidal in the round of 16 fight in the 71kg class.
Deepak Puria stunned everyone once again with his performance at the 2023 World Boxing Championships and beat his Chinese opponent. Zhang Jiamao didn’t stand a chance against the flamboyant Indian boxer.
Daebak moved briskly, dodging Zhang’s punches. In the end, Jiamao is eliminated from the competition. He gave India a resounding 5-0 victory over China.
Up against Kazakh Sabirkhan Mahmud was Sachin Siwatch, who had been brilliant in his previous fights and had proven to be quite a god for the Indians of the day.
Although Sachin fought hard against a strong opponent, it wasn’t good enough for him. Sachin was beaten by a crushing unanimous decision, 5-0.
Nishant Dev outplayed Nidal in the first round of the match. Using his height as an advantage, Nidal pushed Dev into a corner, but the Indian boxer made an impressive comeback. He crushed the jurists with a combination of punches and eventually won the fight by RSC in the first round.
Akash Sangewan fell in the round of 16 to fight Daula Bekbaov. He was derailed by a professional team from Daulat and lost by unanimous decision 5-0.
