The Maharashtra government has dropped all charges against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and rescinded the suspension order issued in late 2021, an official said on Friday.

At least four information reports of extortion related information were recorded against Singh in Mumbai and neighboring Thane.

The official said the order to rescind his suspension was issued by the state’s Ministry of Interior on Wednesday.

According to the order, the period of suspension of the retired IPS officer should be treated as if he was on duty, it said.

Singh was suspended in December 2021 when the Maha Vikas Agadi (MVA) government was in power.
