Lahore: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Tehreek-e-Insaf Pakistan He decided to file cases against the country’s corruption enforcer for “kidnapping” him from the United States Islamabad High Court on charges of corruption.
On 9 May, Khan was arrested by the paramilitary Rangers in a corruption case from the Islamabad High Court, and put in a jail car sparking mass protests across the country by supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

The arrest of the Pakistani Rangers sparked unrest in Pakistan that continued until Friday and led to many deaths and the destruction of dozens of military and state installations by protesters.
For the first time in the country’s history, protesters stormed the Army Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and also burned down the historic corps commander’s house in Lahore.
Police put the death toll in the violent clashes at 10 while Imran’s party claimed that 40 of its workers were killed in shootings by security personnel.
The Express Tribune reported that the party would name the home minister, interim senior ministers in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, police inspectors general in the two provinces and other senior officials in its first media reports.
The party also demanded the opening of an independent investigation into the incidents of vandalism and arson that took place on May 9, to be conducted by a high-level committee that includes senior judges of the court.
All this was decided on Sunday during a high-level meeting of the leaders of the Equity and Reconciliation Movement headed by Imran Khan in Lahore.
The meeting was called to chart the party’s future course of action in the wake of mounting unrest and lawlessness in the country.
The meeting discussed the current political situation, public violations of the constitution by the current government, suspension of basic rights and illegal arrests of movement leaders, workers and ordinary citizens.
He strongly condemned the “kidnapping” of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from the International Humanitarian City. The report added that the meeting decided to file an FIR against NAB and Rangers.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Khan said that democracy in Pakistan is at an “all-time low” and that the judiciary is the country’s only hope.
