Initial reports indicate that the illegal cargo was being transported from Malkangiri to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh
Seven people, including a Telangana policeman, were arrested by the Kalimela Police on charges of smuggling ganja. The suspects were arrested on charges related to their involvement in hashish smuggling in Malkangiri district.
The policeman, identified as R Sreeny Naik, was among those taken into custody during the operation.
Based on intelligence information, the authorities succeeded in intercepting the accused near Kamala Padar area, where they were caught in the act, in possession of 103 kilograms of ganja.
The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around Rs 5 lakh.
Apart from drug possession, legal police officials also seized crucial evidence from the possession of the arrested individuals. The seized items included two cars, three iPhones, ATM cards, PAN cards, and Adar cards.
Initial reports indicated that the illicit cargo was being transported from Malkangiri to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh.
The Kalimela Police charged the seven people under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Subsequently, they appeared in court to face legal action.
