According to reports, Home Minister Amit Shah assured the protesting wrestlers that the law remains the same for everyone

Protesting wrestlers on Saturday met Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence to protest their protest against Indian Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Charan Singh.

The wrestlers confirmed that they had met Home Minister Amit Shah, but refused to give more details. According to reports, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Finch Phogat met Amit Shah.

According to a report by NDTV, Amit Shah assured the wrestlers that the law would remain the same for everyone. “Let the law take its own course,” Shah told the wrestlers, according to the report.

The meeting reportedly began at 11 pm and lasted for more than an hour. Sources said Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Sangeeta Phogat and Satyawart Kadian met Amit Shah, according to the report. The wrestlers have reportedly demanded an impartial investigation and swift action against WFI President Brij Bhushan Charan Singh.

Olympic wrestlers Bajrang Poonia, Sakshi Malik and Phogat lead a protest by wrestlers, accusing the ISU president, Brij Bhushan Charan Singh, of sexually harassing several wrestlers including a minor.

The wrestlers were protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi until 28 May when the Delhi Police cleared the scene of the agitation after preventing them from marching to the new Parliament House during its inauguration.

The wrestlers, who were booked for hooliganism and other charges after a May 28 brawl with security personnel, later went to Haridwar claiming they wanted to dunk their medals in the Ganges.

With so many people asking them, they decided to hand the medals over to the cultivator leaders to take a call.

Speaking at a meeting where former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik and RLD President Jayant Chaudhary took part in the podium, Bajrang Punia announced on Sunday that the wrestlers will soon hold their own Mahapanchayat.

Addressing the ‘Sarv Samaj Samarthan Panchayat’ in support of the wrestlers at Mundlana in Sonipat district, Punia asked the speakers at the event not to announce any decision, saying that the wrestlers would call the Mahapanchayat in another 3-4 days. “We will hold one Mahapanchayat and give an invitation to it. We will decide on the place. We want to gather everyone for that panchayat and we don’t want to divide.”
