The guiding vehicle accompanying the newly recruited Punjab Government Minister Balkar Singh It was alleged that three or four youths in Jalandhar were attacked around 1 am on Monday. The incident occurred near Ravidas Chowk when the minister was heading towards his residence at Man Nagar, near Wadala Chowk.
Police sources said that the attackers came in a luxurious black car without a registration number. The minister’s test car attempted to overtake the black car, but was stopped in the middle of the road by its driver. Police sources said that three or four young men got out of the car and clashed with the armed minister, who asked the young men to give way to the pilot’s vehicle and dealt with them roughly.
They also allegedly manhandled a policeman on duty near Ravidas chowk and pelted the experimental vehicle with bricks. Police said the minister got out of his car and calmed down the youths, who were under the influence of alcohol.
The police added that even after the minister went to his house, the youths followed him and fought with his gunmen outside the building.
The minister then called the police and Deputy Commissioner of Police 2 (Jalandhar), Aditya, arrived at the spot and detained the two youths and impounded their car.
Police Commissioner Kuldip Singh Chahal said the police are investigating the matter and will register a case.
