Miami Heat guard Tyler Hero watches again from the sidelines during Game 2 of the NBA Finals against Denver. This comes while Herro is still recovering from a broken right hand.
Herro was injured in Game 1 of the Heat’s first round series against Milwaukee and has been out since. However, there is still optimism within the Heat organization that Herro will be able to make a comeback at some point during the Finals.
Speaking before Game 2, Heat coach Eric Spoelstra said Miami is very encouraged by Tyler Hero’s recovery progress. He added that the Heat will continue to be careful with Herro and will reassess him after they return to Miami for Game 3:

“He’s progressing. We’re really encouraged by the progress,” Spoelstra said.
“He started doing liaison work as soon as we got to Denver. We have to keep perspective. We want to be responsible for this. We’re all excited and encouraged by his progress, but we’ll be back in Miami.”
Follow Spoolstra:
“All we’re doing is sticking to the process, trying to pile on positive days, and also understanding that this isn’t trying to get back in the game in December. This is the Finals. So, there’s a little bit of context to this.”

Tyler Hero too talk about His desire to return before the finals. However, Hiro said he would take things day by day:
“I’m going to do the exercises every day, twice, two or three times a day, from here until the day I hope to be back,” Hiro said.
“So I will continue to work hard and see how my body responds day by day as I try to get back as soon as possible.”
Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 3.0 3-pointers per game on 43.9% shooting over 67 regular season games. He was Miami’s third leading scorer.
Michael Malone will likely return as Tyler Herro in the NBA Finals
Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone was asked about the possibility of Tyler Hero returning to the NBA Finals ahead of Game 2. He said that his team expects Herro to return at some point during the series. He added that the Nuggets are ready to deal with Hiro’s eventual return:
“We’ve talked about knowing he’ll be back at some point in the series,” Malone said.
“He hasn’t played since Game 1 of the Milwaukee Series. He’s been out for a while. We know what kind of talent he is. His ability to rebound, create for himself, create for teammates and launch the three ball clearly.”
“If and when it becomes available, our guys will be ready, from a personnel and game plan standpoint.”
Heat fans are still hoping they’ll be able to see Herro make the finals.
