Prime Minister Bhubindra Patil on Monday inaugurated a small forest range developed by the Gujarat Forest Department using the Miyawaki method of cultivation in Ambagi of Banaskantha district.

The forest collection was inaugurated by the Prime Minister while participating in a nationwide celebration of World Environment Day. Also in attendance were local legal aid offices, members of Parliament and officials from the Ministry of Forestry and the Environment.

The Cabinet urged citizens to preserve the environment to overcome the challenges of climate change and provide a healthy future for future generations.

The collection of young forests developed through the Miyawaki method of cultivation includes 10,000 seedlings of local varieties. About 82 of these groups are forests ranging in size from 0.5 hectares to 2 hectares. Miyawaki is a Japanese technique for creating dense forests with native plants. On this occasion, CM has launched a QR code through which people can get details of nurseries close to their residences. He also inaugurated some forest management projects apart from publishing the fourth edition of the book prepared by Gujarat State Pollution Control Board with information on obtaining environmental approvals under environmental laws in Japanese.
