Speaking to News18, Inshaat said she worked hard and was expecting to pass the 400 mark in her board exams, but managed to achieve her score due to the unwavering support of her family.

Blinded by pellet guns during the 2016 unrest in Jammu and Kashmir following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, Inshaat Mushtaq passed her Grade 12 painting exams with flying colours.

Mushtaq said, speaking to News 18 after its result.

The 22-year-old added that she had worked hard and was expecting to pass the 400 mark in her board exams, but managed to achieve her score due to the unwavering support of her family.

Mushtaq scored 319 out of 500 in the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, and the result was announced on Friday. She had completed her class 10 exam two years after losing her sight.

After losing her sight, Insha underwent six surgeries, but her sight, which was lost due to the rupture of the retina and optic nerve, could not recover.

Despite everything, her passion for things has not died, and she has not given up hope of doing the things she wants to do. She says she always had the support of her family amidst all the challenges and hard times.

In an interview with News 18 In 2017, Ansha said her blindness did not stop her from pursuing her favorite game, cricket.

Ansha, who has become the face of the pellet victims to lose their vision, also expressed her gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Peace and Justice Center (JKCPJ) – a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) for their support.

After that, Insha wants to get her bachelor’s degree and take practice classes for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam.

“I want to become an employee of the IAS so that I can become an example for all visually impaired people. I want each of them to become independent and move forward with their lives,” she told the news agency. PTI.

She also highlighted the need for a school for the visually impaired in different parts of the country, adding that there is little awareness in the Kashmir Valley on this subject.

Inshaat was wounded by shrapnel on July 11, 2016, three days after Wani – the leader of an armed group – was killed in a confrontation with security forces. She was in her home and opened a window to look outside when tragedy struck.

Hundreds, like Insha, were left permanently blind after protests erupted across the valley after militant Burhan Wani, leader of the terrorist Hizbul Mujahideen, was killed in a confrontation with security forces on July 8 last year.
