Moscow: Valery, Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Gerasimov He said on Friday that his country’s strong military partnership with China provides stability around the world.
Gerasimov, the commander of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, made the remarks during a video conference with his Chinese counterpart, Leo Zenly.
“The coordination of Russian and Chinese efforts in the international arena has a stabilizing effect on the global situation,” Gerasimov said, according to a video released by the Russian Defense Ministry.
“I am convinced that today’s meetings will help us further strengthen the strategic defense partnership between Russia and China,” he added.
He added that joint Russian and Chinese military exercises should remain an “important focus” of this partnership.
Gerasimov extended an invitation to visit Moscow to Liu, who was appointed last September as chairman of the Joint Staff of the Chinese Central Military Commission.
China and Russia are strategic allies, with both sides frequently touting their “borderless” partnership and cooperation in the economic and military fields.
Relations became stronger after Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine in February 2022 and ensuing Western economic sanctions.
Beijing has firmly refused to condemn Russia’s attack on its neighbor.
Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow in March and announced that relations between the two countries are entering a new era.
