The Kharagpur Police Station official, Nightish Jain, said the boarding school, which houses about 30 students from class 1 to 6, is being illegally run in Bhattogra village, about 40 kilometers from the district headquarters.
Police said on Sunday that an 11-year-old girl was raped by a residential school owner and his brother in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh state.
Nitesh Jain in charge of Kharagpur police station said the boarding school, which houses about 30 students from class one to six, is being run illegally in Bhattogra village, about 40 kilometers from the district headquarters.
Based on a complaint, the police on Saturday arrested the accused under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (death threat) of the Indian Penal Code and related provisions of the Child Sexual Offenses Protection Act, he said.
The official said the incident came to light when a fourth grade student’s cousin allegedly saw her being raped by the accused.
He said that the victim’s parents were working as workers in another city and the girl was living in the school hostel, adding that her cousin also lives and studies in the institution.
The official said that a preliminary investigation revealed that the owner’s brother had sexually exploited the victim.
He said the police are investigating further.
