Former opponent of Amanda Nunes, Giuliana Pena’s reaction to the double UFC champion’s retirement has shocked fans the wrong way.

Nunes bid farewell to the sport after her UFC 289 main event bout against Irene Aldana. ‘The Lioness’ put up another dominant display, absolutely marching through the rookie Mexican en route to a 50-44, 50-44, 50-43 victory.

Bina took to Twitter, claiming to have scared Nunes into retirement while accusing her of a lackluster performance against Aldana. Venezuelan film The Vixen wrote:

“I scared you so badly that you retired. Personally, congratulations. Professionally, wtf was this? #UFC289”

“Canadians don’t frown, they coolly walked out before the fight was over #ufc289 #snoozefest #terrible #stinker #ducking”

I scared you so badly in retirement. Personally, congratulations. Professionally, wtf was that? #UFC289

However, fans don’t agree with Julianna Pena’s claims that she scared Amanda Nunes into retirement. ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ was brutally snapped at by fans all over Twitter who reminded her of a lopsided loss to Nunes on her latest outing.

Check out some of the reactions below:

“I watched you get 50-43’d bro”

“It’s a low class what you can expect from Pena, she’s far from elegant, she’s literally dominated and she takes Nunes’ retirement as a compliment as maturity and a show of respect.”

“How long do you plan to let Amanda live free in your head?”

@employee @employee @tweet This could be you…she would have won and retired. It doesn’t matter who it was. I don’t understand gratuitous, random heel style

@employee How long do you plan to let Amanda live free in your head?

@employee Change your profile picture. You lost the belt and you won’t win if you get a shot at the vacant belt

@tweet @employee You’ve done nothing in sports and you’re known only because of Amanda 🤣 Respect the greatness! You must be wondering what’s next for you now that you can’t ride the goat’s influence train

What happened in Amanda Nunes vs. Juliana Pena 1 and 2

Amanda Nunes and Juliana Pena clashed for the first time at UFC 269 in December 2021. Having secured a title shot from a win over Sarah McMahon, Pena has been a +1200 underdog against The Lioness who hasn’t lost a fight since 2015.

Pena appeared to be in different territory than the opening bell, as he refused to go down despite taking clean shots from Nunes. ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ continued to take some damage on it in the second round as Nunes’ gas tank appeared to have emptied. Pena went on to score one of the biggest upsets in combat sports history by delivering a rear choke in the second round.

The two clashed in a rematch at UFC 277 in July 2022 with Pena entering as the underdog once again despite being the champion. Amanda Nunes went on to establish herself as the women’s MMA GOAT, knocking Pena down multiple times on her way to an absolutely dominant decision win.
