Diablo 4 features many iconic locations and references to previous entries in the franchise, including the much-acclaimed Diablo 3. Players can enter the city of Caldeum in the Kehjistan region in Diablo 3, but the path ahead is not easy. In short, players must progress through the Diablo 4 post Acts 4 and 5 campaign, after which they will be required to complete a series of missions. Completing these tasks will open the way to Caldium, which will be described in detail below.

How to unlock Caldium in Diablo 4
The Caldeum from Diablo 4 is hidden behind a series of quests that started after the end of Act 6’s second quest – “The Jewel of the Orient”. This special mission is part of the game’s last few missions. Players must be well equipped to deal with the following battles:
- Finish the last mission of Chapter 5 in Diablo 4, called “Chorus of Voices”.
- Rendezvous with Lorath and Donnan at the Tarsarak waypoint to move on.
- Start the quest, “Evil Stirs in Kehjistan”.
- Complete this quest to have Neyrelle inform you of your next goal – to meet Lorath and Donan in the city of Caldeum.
- The quest for the “Oriental Jewel” will begin. Head to Tarsarak Waypoint.
- Finally, enter Caldium through the eastern gate.
- Caldeum will now be fully unlocked and available for exploration and many side quests.
This concludes the steps to enter Caldium. As detailed above, the process of unlocking access to the city is locked across the campaign, and players must simply play through it to continue.
Additional information about the city of Caldium
The Jewel of the East or Caldium is an ancient city within Kehjistan. The city relied heavily on trade for its survival, and as such was considered the commercial capital of the Diablo world. Despite its size and influence, Caldium was never positioned as the capital of the empire – and it is suggested that the city’s inhabitants preferred it as such.
Even with the onset of the Mage Clan Wars, the battles had never affected the flow of trade in Caldium – due to its main role as a trading post.
Despite withstanding many battles and an attempted genocide from Maltael, Caldium suffered before eventually falling to the demonic invasion. The city has been sealed off forever in an attempt to prevent evil from spreading its roots across the Empire.
Diablo 4 is an action role-playing game developed by Blizzard Entertainment and is the fourth main entry in the Diablo franchise. The game was released worldwide on June 5, 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
