Seventy to eighty people were rescued after a fire broke out in the Chama Building on 90 Feet Road around 11 am. It was poured around 12:30 p.m

MUMBAI: At least 32 people, including a one-month-old baby, were injured and hospitalized after a fire ripped through the seven-storey apartment block in central Mumbai’s Dharavi slum on Sunday, an official said.

Seventy to eighty people were rescued after a fire broke out in the Chama Building on 90 Feet Road around 11 am. He said it was poured around 12:30 p.m.

The fire broke out on the ground floor of the building. He was confined to the electrical wiring, surveillance cameras in the common traffic area and the canal. Some of the scrap materials kept on the fifth and seventh floors also caught fire.”

He said it was a Level 1 (small) fire, and after they were alerted, local firefighters rushed to the site and began the process of extinguishing the fires, he said.

“A total of 32 people were either injured or complained of discomfort after the fire. All of them, including a one-month-old boy, were taken to different hospitals. While two elderly people were admitted to Sion Hospital, others were shifted to Sion Hospital,” he added. Ayush Hospital, adding that there were no reports of deaths in the accident.
