Tokyo: Japan has extended the alert to Ballistic missile Defenses on Sunday ends though north koreaThe deadline for the launch of the satellite has passed.
Japan put its ballistic missile defenses on alert last month and pledged to shoot down any missile it deemed threatening its territory, after North Korea informed Japan that it plans to launch a satellite between May 31 and midnight on Saturday.
“Japan will maintain its orders regarding ballistic missile defenses for the time being,” the Defense Ministry said in a brief statement, without giving a reason.
North Korea last month informed the International Maritime Organization of the planned satellite launch schedule.
North Korea launched a satellite on May 31 that ended in failure, sending the booster and payload out to sea, according to North Korean state media.
