Locals, social activists, and priests perform collective mundane performances in Odisha. (News 18)

For the rituals, people from various departments came forward to offer condolences and pray for speedy recovery of those injured after the Odisha train accident that claimed 238 lives.

Locals and social organizations of Odisha maintain the 10th day rituals to commemorate the immortal souls of the horrific train accident in Baleswar district which killed 238 people and injured more than 900 others.

For the ritual, people from various departments came forward to offer condolences and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Apart from these villagers and the people who recovered the dead bodies and rescued the injured in the horrific Coromandel Express and Bengaluru-Howrah train accident, they performed the ‘head-lift’ as per the ritual.

Social activists and members of spiritual organizations participated in the three-day memorial service near Bahanaga High School where the bodies were kept.

Masses and prayers of all faiths were organized by the people of Suro and Bahanaga towns to honor the deceased.

“We are celebrating the tenth day rites for the immortal souls of those who died in the Pahanga train accident. The locals said that the Mundan Mass and other rituals will be observed as per the Hindu death rites.” News 18.

Sharat Raj, the organizer said that “According to the Indian death rites, the 11th day rites will be celebrated tomorrow. Brahmins from different villages are invited for the rites. Various programs will be held respecting all religions. We pray for the resurrection of the immortal soul of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Biswa Shanti Maha Yajna, Astaprahari Nama Yagyan, Akhanda Gayatri Mantra and Prasad will be distributed on the eleventh day which falls on Monday.
