Police suspect that the minor may have been sexually assaulted and strangled to death
The 15-year-old had been missing since 2pm on Friday, after she went to a field near the village to relieve herself. Her mutilated body was found by a farmer on Saturday
Police said the mutilated body of a 15-year-old girl, who was missing, was found in a field in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
Police suspect that the minor may have been sexually assaulted and strangled to death as her ‘dupata’ (stolen) was tied around her neck.
A police officer said the body had been sent for an autopsy and three teams had been set up to investigate.
“The girl, aged 15, has been missing since 2pm on Friday, after she went to a field near the village to relieve herself. Her mutilated body was found by a farmer on Saturday,” Commissioner of Police Sarvesh Mishra said.
He added that it appears that the victim was assaulted, as she had bruises around her eyes and her mouth appeared to be gagged.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a case has been registered under Sections 302 (Murder) and 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Sections 3 and 4 of the Child Sexual Offenses Protection Act against unknown persons, Mishra said.
