Paris Saint-Germain defended their Ligue 1 title in the recently concluded season. However, coach Christophe Galtier failed to inspire his team to glory in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney supported striker Lionel Messi to be successful in the NBA. Elsewhere, the Parisians are leading the race to sign Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.
On that note, here’s a look at the key PSG transfer stories as at 10 June 2023:
Wayne Rooney advises Lionel Messi to succeed in the NBA
Wayne Rooney believes Lionel Messi will make a huge impact in Major League Soccer. The Argentine has decided to join Inter Miami once his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the month.
The 35-year-old has had mixed times with the Parisians but chose not to extend his stay. Barcelona were keen to secure their Bosman move signing, while the player was also keen to return to his alma mater.
However, the Blaugrana failed to strike a deal, prompting Miami to snoop around and get their man. Messi also rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia to move to MLS.
Recently, as cited by PSG Talk, Rooney has been full of praise for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
“It’s great to see Messi come to this league. Over the years, we’ve seen the influence of players like David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He’s arguably the greatest player of all time and recently won the World Cup on his own.
“He will make a huge impact at (Inter) Miami and the MLS league. He’s a great signing, and I’m sure everyone is excited to have him here,” said Rooney.
Messi is expected to push Major League Soccer into the spotlight.
Paris Saint-Germain leads the race for Kim Min-jae
Paris Saint-Germain is leading the race to sign Kim Min-jae, according to The Telegraph. The South Korean defender has been extremely powerful for Napoli this season, helping them to a historic victory in Serie A.
The 26-year-old’s performances have earned him admiration at clubs across the continent, with the Ligue 1 champions also on the shortlist. Manchester United are also interested in Kim, but now it looks like the Parisians have jumped the Red Devils in the running.
Paris Saint-Germain is in the market to replace Sergio Ramos, who will leave the club as a free agent next month. Although the French giants are willing to welcome Milan Skriniar to Bosman’s move, the club remains keen for more reinforcements.
Kim has emerged as their ideal option and the player is likely to be available for £50m this summer. However, the Parisians have not yet made an offer for the player.
Parisians are looking forward to Victor Osimhen
Paris Saint-Germain has turned its attention to Victor Osimhen to solve his attacking woes, Le Parisien reports via Sports Mole.
The Nigerian striker has been a revelation for Napoli this season, netting 31 goals and five assists in 39 appearances across competitions. His efforts were instrumental in the club winning the First Division. With Messi gone and Neymar also likely to follow suit, the Parisians are eager to lock up a superstar to take over the goal-scoring responsibilities.
Osimhen has emerged as an ideal candidate for the job, and the Ligue 1 champions are keen to bring him to the Parc des Prince. However, the Nigerian is also wanted by Manchester United, who want a new No. 9 this summer. Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is the club’s preferred choice, but the Red Devils also have Napoli’s Victor Osimhen on their wish list.
