Punjab Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Maan, while making the announcements, said these festivals will be held throughout the year.
In a bid to promote the state as an ideal tourist destination, the Punjab government on Sunday announced the launch of a series of cultural festivals across the state. While making the announcements, Punjab Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Maan said these festivals would be held throughout the year.
“The series of festivals will be called ‘Rangla Punjab’. The idea is to revive the rich cultural heritage of the state.”
The series will start with the ‘Teeyan Festival’ in Sangrur district from August 18th to 20th. A budget of Rs 65 crore has been allocated for the series of festivals, Chief Minister Bhagwant Man said.
A total of 19 festivals will be held across the state, including festivals celebrating martial arts and culinary arts, a military carnival, a river festival, and a nature trails festival. Mann announced that Sufi traditions would also be celebrated in the Mallerkotla district.
The government will also hold a groovy festival in Ferozepur, a heritage festival in Kapurtala and a nature festival in Hoshiarpur districts.
“We will also organize a Rivers Festival in Pathankot and an Inquilab Festival in Khatkar Kalan,” Mann added.
The Punjab Government will also organize the Border Tourism Festival in association with the Border Security Force (BSF).
CM Mann also said that people from all over the world will be invited to these festivals, which aim to highlight the country as an ideal and safe destination for tourists.
