UFC 289 delivered several exciting moments scattered throughout the fight card and provided plenty of worthwhile results for the MMA world to ponder and debate.
The sold-out event was held at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and was attended by 17,628 people. The fight card brought in $3.8 million in gate revenue.
One of the highlights of the event was Amanda Nunes announcing her retirement from the UFC after defeating Irene Aldana in the main event.
A scary incident also occurred during the live broadcast of UFC 289. As Mike Malott started coming out for his fight against Adam Fugitt on the main card, a barrier in the audience collapsed, sending fans crashing into each other to the floor.
The official at Rogers Arena released a statement highlighting what really happened on sight of the incident, and said no one suffered any serious injuries:
“The safety of our fans is our number one priority at Rogers Arena. At tonight’s UFC event, as fans bowed to greet the fighters, a railing fell. Our arena staff worked quickly to move fans in the affected area and there were no serious injuries reported. Venue security and site workers throughout the rest of the evening To ensure everyone’s safety.”

UFC President Dana White also spoke out on the issue, echoing the words of Rogers Arena officials.
“No one was seriously hurt, a couple of minor injuries. The arena handled it right away, toughed it up, raised security there, moved people to some better seats and ran it like a bunch of pros.”

UFC 289 bonuses: Which fighters took home $50,000?
Charles Oliveira made a strong statement at UFC 289 as he took down Benil Dariusz in the first round of their highly anticipated fight on June 10.
Apart from that, Mike Malott and Stephen Ersig were also named Performance of the Night bonus winners and each received an additional $50,000.

The action-packed middleweight scrap between Marc-Andre Barriault and Eryk Anders was awarded Fight of the Night honors and both athletes received a bonus check of $50,000 each for their efforts.
