Ishant Sharma was never happy when Ravindra Jadeja finished his assignments quickly. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri recounted the incident of Sharma and Jadeja from the 2018 Melbourne Test match against Australia while commentating on the 2023 World Tennis Championship Final.

Ravi Shastri was discussing how annoying it is for fast bowlers to continue bowling under the blazing sun in Test matches. And remember how Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja bowled alongside India against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2018.

It was a hot day in Melbourne. While Ishant Sharma was running in and bowling his sixes, Ravindra Jadeja was finishing his run within a minute or two on the other end, depriving Sharma of sufficient rest between his overs.

Recalling the same thing in the commentary on the World Tennis Championships final, Ravi Shastri said:

“On a day like this, when it’s hot, you hate being a fast bowler, especially with Jadeja bowling at the other end, because he finished his runs in a minute or a minute and a half. I remember the tour of Australia, where Ishant Sharma and Jadeja were bowling side by side.

“Ishant has had a long, hot day. He was coming back after his overtake, and Jadeja completed his overtake in a minute and a half. He had to walk over to him and tell him something.”

Ravindra Jadeja bowled 57 overs in the MCG Test match

Jadeja did not play in the first two Tests of the 2018/19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India. He secured a place in India’s playing XI for the Third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and captain Virat Kohli gave him 25 overs in the first innings and 32 overs in the second innings.

Ishant Sharma has bowled alongside him on a couple of occasions, and it looks like the tall wrestler will have a word with Jadeja during one of the rounds.
