UFC 289 took down Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on Saturday night, marking the promotion’s return to Canada for the first time since 2019. Amanda Nunes put her bantamweight title on the line against Irene Aldana.
“The Lioness” absolutely nailed Aldana over the course of 25 minutes, earning a dominant unanimous decision. Nunes then hung up her gloves for good, bidding farewell to the sport with a 22-5 record.

The co-main event of the night pitted former champion Charles Oliveira against perennial challenger Benil Dariush in a title eliminator. Oliveira made a more than strong case for another title with his superstar shot “Penny” in the first round.
Canadian kid Mike Malott faced Adam Fugit in a welterweight bout at UFC 289. “Right” hurt Fugit with the first kick he delivered and eventually smoothed his way to a second round win.
Featherweight Dan Egg delivered another power-packed performance to pick up a decision win over fellow favorite Nate Landwer.
Another Canadian, Marc-Andre Barriault, got an emphatic win in his Fight of the Night match against Eryk Anders to kick off the UFC 289 main card action.
