A violent clash broke out between workers of Indian Secular Front (ISF) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) in front of the office of Bhangar Cluster Development Officer in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on Tuesday morning, which resulted in several vehicles being involved. vandalism, throwing explosives and throwing stones at the police. Both sides blamed each other and said that many of their members were injured.

The violence occurred when ISF candidates sought to submit their nomination papers for the 8 July panchayat elections.

Since the nomination process began on June 9, many violent incidents have been reported from all over West Bengal. Prevention orders under CRPC Section 144 have been in effect since Monday near Nomination Center buildings. However, this did not put an end to the violence.

On Tuesday, the clash broke out between the ISF and TMC workers at the Land Mela in front of the BDO office in Block 2, Bhangar, near Bijayganj Bazar. There was a police presence at the BDO office, and police officers were among the injured. The officers said that the police resorted to throwing tear gas shells and nets in an attempt to control the situation.

Bhangar MLA Naushad Siddiqui of the Internal Security Forces alleged that members of the Transitional Military Council attacked his party workers to prevent them from filling out nominations.

“Since yesterday, TMC workers have made efforts to prevent us from submitting nominations. The ISF believes in the language of democracy,” Seddik said on Tuesday.

Canning East MLA Saokat Mullah, leader of the Transitional Military Council responsible for Bhangar, alleged that the planned attack was organized by the Iraqi security forces. He said that the goal of the ISF is to disrupt the “Nabjawar Yatra” program planned by the Transitional Military Council, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday from Block No. 1 in Bhangar. He also alleged that Siddiqui was behind the accident.

Siddig denied the allegations.

The state election commission requested a report from the justice of the peace and superintendent of police on the incident.

The panchayat elections are scheduled for July 8 and the results are scheduled to be announced on July 11.
