Novak Djokovic congratulated fellow countryman Nikola Jokic on winning his first NBA title with the Denver Nuggets.

On Tuesday, Djokovic posted a series of stories on Instagram, congratulating Djokic. The Serbian basketball player led the Denver Nuggets to their first title in history, defeating the Miami Heat 4-1 in the NBA Finals.

Within 48 hours, Serbia, a country of just about seven million people, had the privilege of winning an NBA championship and a Grand Slam tournament, with Djokovic winning the 2023 French Open.

Djokovic posted earnest messages of congratulation but also went overboard with the memes on his Instagram stories.

NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic congratulated Novak Djokovic on winning the 23rd Grand Slam title of his career.

Before the fifth game of the NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat, Djokovic won the 2023 French Open, defeating Casper Rudd in the final, 7-6 (1), 6-3, 7-5. In doing so, he became the first man in the Open Era to win 23 major championships and is now level with Serena Williams – the woman who has won the most awards in the Open Era.

Jokic was asked at a press conference about the success of his compatriot, and he replied:

“Yeah, he won for the 23rd time… That’s enough! I’m kidding! There are no words to describe this guy, everyone has already said it all. He’s a master of his craft and probably one of the best players ever,” Jokic said.

During the 2023 French Open, Djokovic said he needed to find Jokic’s number to congratulate him on his impressive performance during the qualifiers. After winning the NBA Finals, the Denver Nuggets star joked about seeing if the 23-time Grand Slam champion texted him in his post-win press conference.
