On Wednesday, domestic stocks opened almost unchanged on a positive note despite the decline in inflation in the United States in May. The BSE benchmark Sensex index opened 24.59 points, or 0.04 percent, at 63,167.75, while the broader NSE Nifty50 jumped 20.70 points, or 0.11 percent, to 18,736.85.

By 9.30 am, Sensex jumped 18.64 points, or 0.03 percent, to 63,124.52, and Nifty was flat, up 2.65 points, or 0.01 percent, to 18,718.80.

JSW Steel, Hindalco, Tata Steel, ONGC, PowerGrid, Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, Titan, NTPC and Asian Paints were the top gainers at the opening.

On the other hand, SBI Life, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, BPCL, Cipla, Wipro, Bajaj Finserv, TCS and IndusInd Bank were the biggest losers in this hour.

At the sectoral level, the media index increased by 1.03 percent, followed by Nifty Metal by 0.98 percent, Nifty Reality by 0.73 percent, and Nifty for durable consumers by 0.50 percent. The IT index was the only sector that traded in the red during the opening session.

Broader markets outperformed the opening session, with Nifty Microcap 250 up 0.71 percent, Nifty Smallcap 250 up 0.42 percent, Nifty Smallcap 100 jumping 0.39 percent, Nifty Midsmallcap 400 jumping 0.38 percent, and Nifty Smallcap 400 jumping 0.38 percent. Nifty Midcap 150 by 0.36 per cent.

Adani Group shares rose in early trade after a report said the conglomerate was in talks with lenders to refinance up to $3.8 billion from a loan facility taken out for its acquisition of Ambuja Cements Ltd last year.
