Former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger particularly expressed his high opinion of Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs S.

Henry Kissinger, the former US Secretary of State, highly appreciated India’s foreign policies, describing them as “balanced”. In assessing the political dynamics, Kissinger stressed that old world powers were fading away and new ones were on the rise.

Interview with the Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Jaishankar with The Economist He mentioned the former US Secretary of State’s praise of India’s foreign policy, being quoted as saying, “I very much appreciate the way Indians conduct their foreign policy now because it shows balance.”

Looking at the changes in Indian diplomacy in the past few decades, Kissinger saw that India had added economic heft to its massive population, viewing the United States and its allies as an economic opportunity. However, the former US Secretary of State indicated that India’s desire for defense and security relations has grown, especially after the border clashes with China in 2020.

Kissinger also highlighted India’s close relations with Russia in context, saying that New Delhi had refused to condemn Moscow’s invasion of Kiev.

Kissinger particularly expressed his high opinions about EAM S Jaishankar and called him “a practicing political leader who is very close to my views”.

On the other hand, EAM S Jaishankar said in the interview with The Economistcalled “the transformation of the relationship between India and the United States” a “major change in my career”.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi is set to embark on his first official visit to the US on June 20, where he will attend a range of events – including a state dinner at the White House and a bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden.
