On whether the cause of death was heatstroke, the chief official said: “So far, we have received only one or two cases of heatstroke, and these are also mild cases.”

Police said that a 40-year-old Assistant Inspector of Traffic Police died here Sunday after fainting on duty due to the sweltering heat. Department (Traffic) Officer Pramod Yadav said that Vinod Sonkar was on duty near Hanumangarhi Temple in Ayodhya on Sunday afternoon.

He said that Sonkar fainted due to the sweltering heat and was taken to the district hospital, where he died.

“Unfortunately, one of our traffic sub-inspectors has fallen prey to the heat wave and the worst weather,” said Ayodhya Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ajay Raja.

On whether the cause of death was heatstroke or not, the chief official said: “So far, we have received only one or two cases of heatstroke, and these are also mild cases.”
