Pakistan striker Javed Miandad said that Pakistan should not play matches in India, even if it is a World Cup, unless the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry agrees to send the Indian team to Pakistan first.

He added, “Pakistan cricket is bigger…we still produce good players. So I don’t think even if we don’t go to India it will make any difference for us.”

After India refused to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asian Cup, the tournament will now be played in a hybrid model in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Miandad was not surprised by this move:

“It was on paper that they would never again send their team to Pakistan for the Asian Cup, so now is the time to take a strong stand.”

The 66-year-old once again urged India not to mix politics and sports:

“I always say that one cannot choose one’s neighbours, so it is better to live by cooperating with one another. And I have always said that cricket is a sport that brings people together and can remove misunderstandings and grievances between countries.”

No changes have been made in relation to the stadiums unless there is a sufficiently strong reason at the World Cup. (PTI – Talking about Pakistan needs to change the venue for the Afghanistan-Australia match) https://t.co/xOyItipfbc
