Actor Sunil Lahri, best known for playing Lakhshman in the TV show Ramayan (1987), watched the Prabhas-Kriti Sanon film Adipurush and shared how he feels “disappointed” and “in shock”. Speaking to indianexpress.com, Sunil shared that the film may have graphics and look like a painting but “content and emotion” wise, it doesn’t have any. “I really can’t understand who they (the makers of Adipurush) are serving. actually narration actually story actually profile. Sub Coach Foolish two. Different Destroying the truth in the name of the show (Everything is blatant. They destroyed everything to make it different.)”.

While Adipurush’s representation of the characters, substandard visual effects and colloquial dialogues have come under fire, the actor says, as someone who is attached to the story and character, he is aghast. He shared that Ramayan could be made in a great way but the film directed by Om Raut did not have any emotional connection. Calling the film a huge mistake, he said the characters came out very different. Ram and Lakshmana had no differentiation, and looked and acted the same. Ra’wan was then turned into a blacksmith, where he was struck with iron. What was the need? Magnad is a man with tattoos and the hairstyle of these characters is repulsive. Raavan has the same haircut as Virat Kohli. it’s a shame.”

Sunil Lahri added that there are some important things that the makers should not change. Starting with Pushpak Viman, which Ravaan used. Uske jagah yaha chamgadar le ke agaye (They got a bat instead.) Ram is seen going to war on Hanuman’s shoulder, while Lord Indra gives him a chariot. To make it look more dramatic, they had Lakshman and Meghnad fight in the water, while Meghnad is said to have used his power to vanish afterwards,” he explained.

Asked about the makers’ attempt to make the film look “modern”, the actor said that just two years ago, when Ramayan aired again on TV, it witnessed a huge number of viewers. He said that while the show came about in 1987, it has always found an audience. “During the lockdown, when people were home and had multiple titles to watch, they picked up Ramayan. The ratings were at an all-time high. Nobody forced anyone to watch it but people of all generations loved it. Even now, young people are my biggest fans. It’s about the show.” I have therefore called Adipurush out. Update ke liye kuch bhi karoge?”

Addressing the statement made by the decision-makers about changing some dialogues, the actor said that once the arrow is shot, it cannot return. “Even if it was removed, it has already infected the place. They should not have done this mutilation in the first place. A respected figure like Hanuman says”Terry Bab Ki GalligiMoghnad saysChal Nickel. These are heights. It’s not even a Tabori language or a specific local dialect. What were they even thinking? “

Sunil added that since Adipurush was announced, he could not associate himself with the project. He admitted that at first he even thought the movie was about jungles or the precocious man. Then it was said that it would justify Ravan’s decision to kidnap Sita, which again came as a shock. Then they changed things, and even then they made this? T-Series has its roots in bhakti Parents and mother, namesake Taqi. Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan could have asked for a bound text. I was really shocked how the movie was released. I have heard Manoj Munshier and he is really respectful of our culture and religion. And then writes such dialogues? I really feel like everyone was blindfolded or hypnotized because they made such a movie.”

The actor shared that he has not yet spoken to Ramayan’s team but has spoken to Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem and his son. He said they have the same opinions. As for the fans, the actor said that they are all heartbroken by the way Adipurush has handled the saga. “It really hurts. I think they should come out and apologize. This movie should be banned. People are already calling for their show to be brought back on TV or put in theaters to make up for Adipurush,” Sunil added. He said, “Movie Jo Gandagi ne machaiye hai, sab keh rahe hai Ramayan Ka Sabon Lau, to wash it. “

Sunil Lahri concluded that if he had to ignore all these shortcomings, then the only performance he stood out for was Saif Ali Khan’s. He said, “He really justified the character he was given. Others failed miserably. Anyone else could play him.”
