As the CBI handles the investigation into the death of Deputy Inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha, who was killed in an accident last month, Assam Pradesh Congress President Bhupen Bora has criticized the BJP for using CBI as per its wishes and said no good results can be expected to come out of the probe.
“The Central Investigation Agency is working according to the central government, so we cannot expect any results from the FBI,” said Bhupen Bora, President of the Congress of Assam Pradesh.
“We can’t trust the CBI anymore. Instead of a CBI investigation, I’d prefer a judicial investigation because it might be more helpful,” Bora said.
The APCC chief arrived at Nagaon Circuit House, now the temporary office of the CBI, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the CBI team led by IPS Lovely Katiar has moved to Lakhimpur to investigate the death of Rabeh on Tuesday. Sub Inspector Rabha was involved in many controversies before her death.
A case was registered against her for allegedly freeing a criminal named Ajjar Ali by accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh in Lakhimpur, popularly known as the center of counterfeit gold and currency copies.
Former CBI SP Leena Doley, former ASP Tridiv Kumar Kumbang and Rupjyoti Kalita have been summoned to Nagaon for questioning.
The team will stay in Lakhimpur for 2-3 days. Although opposition political parties have raised concerns about the CBI investigation, Jonmani Rava’s family is optimistic about the CBI investigation.
Mrs. Leena Doley, Former SP of Nagaon District, has been transferred to Hailakandi District after the death of Junmoni Rava.
