If you’re heading to Progressive Field this week to watch the Cleveland Guardians take on the Oakland Athletics, there’s a lot to know. This is true of every MLB stadium as each stadium has its own rules, customs, and more.

The Cleveland Guardians briefcase policy is a good one to know ahead of time. It can be difficult to find parking around MLB stadiums, and you don’t want to have to walk a mile or more to put your bag away if it doesn’t fit the requirements.

Here’s what you need to know about the requirements and what to do if you have a bag.

Cleveland Guardians briefcase policy details

The Cleveland Guardians bag policy via Cleveland Traveler states:

“Note that only fans are allowed to bring small bags no larger than 16″ x 16″ x 8″ to Progressive Field. Larger diaper bags or medicine bags are also permitted.”

With very few exceptions, any bag entering the field must be smaller than 16″ x 16″ x 8″, which most bags and other standard bags do not allow. If it is larger than that, it should be left in the car or at home. In general, it’s a good idea to let it go if you can.

The only exceptions to this rule in most MLB stadiums are medicine bags and diaper bags. At all entrances they will check bags:

  • Left field progressive portal
  • Progressive Right Field Gate
  • Progressive Domain Gate
  • Progressive Field Gate
  • Progressive Field Gate b
  • Progressive Field Gate c
  • Progressive Field Gate d

If your bag does not fit, do not bring it to these entrances.
