[Watch] Joe Root gifts his wicket as Nathan Lyon gets England’s ace batter on Day 4 of first Ashes Test

Joe Root of England took his wicket on the fourth day of the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston. The right-handed batter came out to the off-hitter and just missed the ball as the ball turned, leaving Alex Carey in a minor smash.

Root’s dismissal occurred in 26 innings as he and Harry Brock bowled aggressively to increase the lead. The former, looking to knock Lyon out for six, was unsuccessful when the ball went over his bat to end his 55-ball adventure 46.

As a result, he became Lyon’s first wicket of the day and his fifth in the match.

The Yorkshire batsman resumed the fourth day in aggressive fashion, hitting reverse shots from Scott Boland in the second of the day. Olly Pope was the first England batsman to go in the fourth over as Pat Cummins’ blazing left on the wing left him unanswered.

Joe Root survived a few balls testing late in the third day

Joe Root, who scored a hundred in the first innings, endured a Test time late on the third day under cloudy conditions.
