Senior intelligence sources told CNN-News that China blocking a motion by India and the US at the United Nations to designate the 26/11 Mumbai attack plot Sajid Mir as a global terrorist is a deliberate attempt by Beijing to support Pakistan in terrorist activities. Wednesday.
An Indian intelligence official said, “On the one hand, Pakistan denies Sajid Mir’s location, but we have provided his locations several times, including videos of their spy agencies. Intelligence officials said his name was even acknowledged by the 2008 Mumbai attacks planner David Coleman Headley and everything was on record.
Sajid Mir is considered one of the most wanted terrorists in India and holds a $5 million bounty on his head by the US.
He is believed to have played a significant role as a master planner of the Mumbai attacks, supervised preparations and reconnaissance, and acted as one of the observers stationed in Pakistan during the terrorist strike.
Beijing has consistently blocked proposals by India and other countries in the United Nations Security Council to impose sanctions on terrorists operating from Pakistan. It used “technical reservations” to block India’s efforts to have the UN Security Council impose sanctions on Masood Azhar, the leader of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed group, who only relented in 2019.
China has also blocked India’s attempts to secure UN sanctions against Zaki Ur-Rahman Lakhvi, the leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Syed Salahuddin, the leader of Hizbul Mujahideen, both of whom are based in Pakistan.
