The two got into a verbal fight, after which the accused and his brother started hitting the boy and ended up strangling the 14-year-old.

A 17-year-old boy allegedly killed a 14-year-old by strangling him after he came clean during a cricket match in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said the accused, who was hitting the victim’s bowling, refused to leave the field on land in Rahti Dera village, Ghatampur.

The two got into a verbal fight, after which the accused and his brother began to beat the boy. After a full physical fight, the victim was thrown to the ground and strangled, he reported The Times of India.

Police said the injured boy was taken to the nearby Ghatampur Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The accused and his brother are both fugitives.

The police attempted to seize the body for an autopsy, but the family was reportedly not in favor.

The victim’s family also said that they would not perform the last rites for the boy until the accused was arrested.

After hours of persuasion, the family has now agreed to an autopsy and also filed a complaint at Ghatampur Kotwali Police Station about the incident, TOI He said.

Subsequently, the FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the Criminal Court of India and raids are underway to catch the culprits.
