Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged real estate developers in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to run a year-long campaign whereby at least 25 seedlings could be planted in every real estate project constructed by them in the past.

After opening a park developed by CREDAI-Ahmedabad, a body of real estate developers, Shah said the move would help transform Ahmedabad into a “green” city.

“Among the tree seedlings planted last year, 5.42 lakh seedlings survived in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency,” said Shah, who planted the Rudraksha in the garden. “If every CREDAI member takes initiative to plant 25 new trees in every project they start, it will help make Ahmedabad green,” said Shah.

Indian Express reported that more than 17,400 full-grown trees were cut down in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts in 2020 and 2021.
